Overview Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Packaging Specialist based in Port Allen, LA. The position offers weekly pay starting at $21.40 per hour. Benefits are effective on day one and include medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) with company match.
Responsibilities
General housekeeping of the production area, case making, inspecting, and packing of finished product in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
Understand, follow, and enforce all safety, health, quality, GMP, and company policies and procedures.
Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and related activities.
Visually inspect finished product for defects before packing to ensure quality.
Follow written packing instructions and notify supervisor of potential problems.
Grind bottles as necessary, checking for contamination before grinding.
Open, inspect bundles of corrugated material and check for proper printing and defects.
Stack case/dividers on carts and feed individual cases into case forming machine.
Use case making equipment safely and notify coworkers when supplies need replenishment.
Communicate with incoming shift or line replacement on quality, machine, and packing configuration issues.
Assist with rework for effective completion.
Assist in training the regular and temporary workforce in stacking, packing quality, and case machines.
Keep work area clean, orderly, and safe.
Complete required documentation.
Limited travel may be required.
Qualifications
Previous manufacturing experience is a plus.
Requirements
Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
Proficient computer and typing skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude.
Ability to work independently and complete assignments within prescribed routines.
Effective communicator: conveys facts and information clearly.
Collaborates well with others, proactively contributes to group objectives, and volunteers to help others.
