Position Description The primary role of the Logistics Coordinator is to manage the delivery of tools and equipment to and from project sites and the shop. Organize, repair, track, and distribute all tools amongst the Company’s Hydro project sites. The secondary role is to perform Hydro Mechanic duties in the shop as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Assemble and pack tools in job boxes and job trailers for delivery to job sites on time.
Place orders directly with vendors for tools, materials, and consumables needed to stock tool trailers and also ship items directly to project sites as logistics – coordinate and book trucking deliveries to and from project sites, including issuing bill of ladings to transport companies or trucking broker.
Unload / load trucks and deliveries to and from the shop using overhead crane and forklift.
Setup, track, and manage shipments of equipment and supplies to locations via USPS, UPS, LTL freight, etc.
Always keep the shop and the tooling stored in a clean and organized manner.
Completes inventory of all tools prior to sending out any project trailer or container.
Keeps accurate inventory of all tools and know if they are on a project or in the shop.
Keeps all precision tools calibrated and purchase new tools to replace items deemed out of specification.
Regularly inspect rigging and lifting equipment. Replace equipment as necessary.
Maintain safety certifications for lifting and load handling equipment including chainfalls and com-a-longs.
Keep all company safety equipment certifications up to date and purchase new items as necessary once equipment goes out of date.
Inventory all tools when trailer or container is returned and follow up with site personnel on any missing or broken tools.
Keeps all tools in working order.
Communicate regularly with site personnel and serve as a knowledge resource for company personnel regarding all company owned tools.
Perform regular simple maintenance of company vehicles and trailers such as topping fluids, replacing bulbs, batteries, filters, belts etc.
Manage, track, and log the service, inspections, repairs and maintenance of company vehicles and trailers.
Perform skilled millwright labor (HEM) job functions in shop and on project sites as required.
Utilize shop repair schedules and other necessary information to develop shop work plans for turbine and component rehabilitation projects in the shop.
Support in the disassembly, repair, dimension collection, and reassembly of components in the shop.
Request purchase orders and get quotes from vendors and sub-contractors as necessary for shop repair projects.
Job Qualifications
High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED)
OSHA 10 HR Construction - Safety Training Course
Five (5) or more years of construction experience, hydroelectric turbine manufacturing or field service experience preferred.
Ability to measure parts and read precision tools such as micrometers or dial indicators
Ability to create and maintain vendor relationships.
Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric industrial tools.
Computer Technology skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office to include MS Outlook, One Drive, Teams, Sharepoint, Excel, Word, etc.
Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat or equivalent pdf software.
Basic knowledge of rigging and techniques, NCCO rigging / crane training preferred
Experience driving and operating construction equipment such as trucks, overhead cranes, heavy trailers, forklifts, man lifts etc.
Basic steel fabrication skills and experience in oxy fuel / plasma torch cutting, stick and mig welding processes.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, sit, squat, kneel, walk, twist, climb, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl and reach for extended periods of time.
Ability to be exposed to extreme temperatures and humidity. During the winter, temperatures may be 30º or below and in the summer, temperatures may reach over 100º.
Ability to work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
Ability to climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures.
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds regularly.
Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
Ability to travel short and long distances.
