Job Summary Provide core management in the procurement of various commodities to achieve budget objects, supplier diversity and on‑time delivery. Support Supply Chain leaders, Strategic Category Manager(s), buyers and a predetermined business unit to achieve total cost management.
Key Accountabilities
Leads company procurement processes to ensure quality, cost effectiveness, and delivery from company’s supplier business partners.
Represents the company in supplier relationships which include negotiations, commercial terms and conditions, and contract administration where deemed appropriate by leadership.
Maximizes assets and specific inventory investments to balance business unit needs with total cost management.
Provides support with reviewing and analyzing inventory levels.
Provides mentoring and direction to procurement staff to implement buying plans and achieve goals.
Provides day‑to‑day procurement operations to meet our business unit partners’ requirements; prepares recommendations and secures necessary approvals; maintains intimate knowledge of contracts; issues change orders.
Supports strategies and establishes contracts as defined by respective Strategic Category Managers and cross‑functional teams.
Responsible for writing contracts and negotiates terms and conditions, as appropriate.
Evaluates total cost of ownership, not just acquisition costs, and trains users as necessary.
Interfaces with contract administrator, Legal and/or Risk Management to assure compliance with terms and conditions.
Responds to emergency and urgent orders; performs expediting functions, as needed.
Works with BU/Suppliers/AP to facilitate invoice resolution and dispute resolution.
Supports DTE and SCM goals and measurements; and understands and complies with all DTE and SCM corporate policies and procedures.
Understands and supports the SPM processes and goals.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 3 years of experience in supply chain management
Preferred: Other Qualifications
Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Economics
Prior procurement experience in Solar / Renewable Energy components
Yellow/Green/Black belt certification
Other Requirements
Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft applications (eg: Excel, PowerPoint, & Word)
Demonstrates an ability to manage multimillion‑dollar contracts, consistent positive business unit and warehouse feedback, little rework, meeting deadlines, taking on additional work, working independently on routine tasks, and effectively prioritizing tasks to meet business needs and deadlines.
Strong negotiation skills and contract writing, evident through successfully and independently negotiating less complex contracts, including terms and conditions, building relationships with our business unit partners and vendors, independently completing purchase agreements, crafting service agreements, and reviewing peers’ contracts for compliance with DTE Energy requirements.
Demonstrates an understanding of risk management, value analysis and proper decision making through ensuring terms and conditions are complete and accurate, appropriately analyzing trade‑offs, consequences and liabilities of actions, knowing when to elevate issues to leadership or experts, and independently making good decisions in routine situations.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of business needs and the organization as a whole, as demonstrated by participation in business unit meetings, placing orders within requisition and funding requirements, and exhibiting general knowledge of the current market.
Demonstrated application of continuous improvement tools, systems and processes.
Demonstrates an understanding of procurement for solar materials and working directly with EPC contractors.
