Washington, DC – Tax Controversy Associate
Hunton selects a tax attorney with 1‑5 years of experience to join the growing Tax Controversy Team in our Business Tax practice group.
In this role you will handle a variety of tax‑related matters across a broad spectrum of industries. The position requires experience in federal tax controversy practice—including IRS administrative dispute resolution, examinations, Appeals, and litigation—as well as a demonstrated interest in renewable energy tax credits.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong academic record, exceptional research, drafting and analytical skills, excellent writing ability, and is detail‑oriented while demonstrating leadership and initiative. You will manage multiple matters, communicate effectively with clients, and contribute to a client‑centered practice within the firm’s nationally recognized Tax & ERISA team.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience at the Internal Revenue Service or the Department of Justice’s Tax Division, a judicial clerkship, and/or an LL.M. in Taxation. Washington, DC bar membership (or expected within one year) is required.
Position is located in the firm’s Washington, DC office with an expectation of in‑office work minimum 4 days per week.
