Commodity Manager – Phillips & Temro Industries
Join Phillips & Temro Industries as a Commodity Manager to lead supply chain sourcing, procurement, and logistics for selected commodities and related tooling and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement
Analyze company level data, supplier data, and competitive benchmark data to achieve targeted performance gains in cost, quality and service.
Study and evaluate market data to ensure the most competitive pricing and overall value.
Work with design engineering in material selection for new products and approve suppliers with QA and engineering.
Continuously improve supplier base size, working capital management, and overall supply chain efficiency.
Develop collaboration with key suppliers to reduce lead times and inbound logistics costs.
Ensure contractual compliance regarding quality, quantity, and price.
Quality/Delivery
Continuously improve supplier operating performance.
Ensure suppliers implement and use an approved quality system.
Report performance metrics and purchase price variance (PPV) monthly.
Strategic Planning
Utilize analytical skills to reduce complexity and provide perspective on supply chain opportunities and risks.
Participate with management in developing supply chain strategy.
Implementation and Change
Show proactive approach to change and encourage continuous improvement.
Be decisive in decision‑making and sensitive to all stakeholder expectations.
Supplier & Customer Relations
Maintain deep understanding of purchased commodities.
Ensure procurement adds value across the entire supply chain.
Represent the company professionally in all supplier and customer dealings.
COMPETENCIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including dispute resolution and confidentiality.
Proficient with PC and standard software (Excel, MS Word, Outlook) and ability to learn new packages.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize work, maintain composure under pressure, and adapt to changing conditions.
Negotiation skills and ability to build constructive relationships at all organization levels.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education
Degree from an accredited college or 10 years demonstrated purchasing experience.
Experience
At least 7 years progressive purchasing experience contributing to supply chain improvements.
Minimum 5 years experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Strong problem‑solving, communication, and continuous improvement focus.
BASE PAY RANGE $85,500 – $119,500
