Job Summary
This is a Rural Carrier Associate (RCA) position with the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Functional Purpose Cases, delivers, and collects mail along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle; provides customers on the route with a variety of services.
Salary $20.38 per hour, paid bi-weekly.
Responsibilities
Sort mail in delivery sequence for the assigned route.
Receive and sign for accountable mail.
Load mail into vehicle.
Deliver mail to customers along a prescribed route and on a regular schedule by vehicle; collect monies and receipts for accountable mail; pick up mail from customers’ roadside boxes.
Sell stamps, stamped paper, and money orders; accept C.O.D., registered, certified, and insured mail and parcel post; furnish routine information concerning postal matters and provide requested forms to customer.
Return mail collected, undeliverable mail, and submit monies and receipts to post office.
Prepare mail for forwarding and maintain records of change of address information.
Prepare a daily trip report and maintain a list of the customers on the route.
Conduct special surveys when required.
Maintain an inventory of stamps and stamped paper as needed to provide service to customers on the route.
Provide for mail security at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be available to work on an as-needed basis.
Driving required: Valid state driver’s license, safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger in the U.S., its possessions, territories, U.S. military installations worldwide.
A personal vehicle suitable for use may be required for this position.
Postal Service employment is conditional upon meeting medical suitability, general eligibility and suitability, and background check requirements.
Desirable: candidate may be required to own a suitable vehicle and live within easy commuting distance of the facility location.
Work is physically demanding; performed indoors and outdoors in all weather; may require loading/unloading trays and carriers up to 70 pounds.
