At Baruch College, student success is everyone’s responsibility. The Online Student Success Coach is a critical role responsible for providing comprehensive support to prospective and current graduate and adult (25+) undergraduate students. This position requires a strong commitment to student success, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a deep understanding of the online learning experience. The role operates primarily during afternoon, evening, and weekend hours to accommodate diverse student schedules; additional Saturday and Sunday hours may be required for special events with advanced notice. A hybrid work schedule is possible.

Responsibilities

Provide pre‑application guidance and support to prospective students, including information about programs, application system, admissions requirements, and financial aid options.

Serve as a primary point of contact for enrolled students, offering general advising, career counseling, and support with time management, study skills, and goal setting.

Escalate students to appropriate offices for additional support when needed and use a case‑management approach to student issues to ensure resolution.

Proactively monitor student progress, identify potential challenges, and develop individualized support plans.

Assist students with navigating the online learning environment, including troubleshooting technical issues and providing guidance on course materials and assignments.

Facilitate workshops and online resources to promote student success and engagement.

Engage and monitor the Graduate Online Student Community in Brightspace to strengthen student connections to Baruch and their peers.

Work with a student support call center to ensure proactive outreach to prospective and current students.

Cross‑Functional Support

Provide tier one support for admissions, advising, financial aid, bursar, registrar, and learning management system inquiries and liaison with the Baruch One Stop Shop (BOSS) and academic program offices.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless student experience.

Stay updated on policies, procedures, and system changes to provide accurate and timely information to students.

Data Management and Reporting

Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date student records.

Collect and analyze student data to identify trends and inform program improvements.

Prepare reports on student success metrics and outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, or a related field.

Experience working with adult learners.

Experience working with online learners.

CUNY Title Overview

Assists in developing and preparing program offerings, curricula, guidelines, and related communications.

Promotes program and advises students and College stakeholders on services, policies, and procedures.

Advises faculty, counselors, tutors, administrators and others on program goals, activities, and best practices.

Provides student services such as workshops, seminars, and advising sessions.

Coordinates efforts of faculty, staff, and other service providers to monitor and assess utilization, student progress, and program effectiveness.

Performs related duties as assigned.

CUNY Title Higher Education Assistant

FLSA Exempt

Compensation and Benefits $74,490 - $86,741; Salary commensurate with education and experience. CUNY’s benefits include health plans, retirement/pension benefits, tuition waivers, paid time off, and access to extensive academic, arts, and athletic programs.
