The role in a nutshell The
Business Development Manager
at Novel Bio will identify and close new business opportunities across the biotech, pharma, and academic sectors, establish relationships with clients, manage sales processes using a CRM, and provide revenue forecasts. Requires strong sales experience in services and products for plasmid DNA manufacturing to support clients at preclinical and clinical development. The position reports to the VP of Business Development and Alliance Management and will be fully remote, with a preference for candidates located in a biotech hub and strong preference for those in the Boston area.
Responsibilities
Leverage your network and market insights to identify, prospect, and close new business opportunities in biotech, pharma, academic, and government organizations.
Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company goals.
Nurture business opportunities by supporting clients’ ongoing programs, gaining traction within an organization, and anticipating their future needs.
Actively engage with our technical teams for continuous improvement of the sales process and to capitalize on trends and opportunities within the industry that expand Novel Bio’s offerings.
Routinely provide accurate and up-to-date sales forecasts, delivering visibility to new revenue opportunities, and project revenue recognition for the quarter and year.
Daily input/track information and manage lead and deal pipeline data in CRM system.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
Requirements
Minimum of a B.S. in a scientific field.
Minimum of 4 years in a client‑facing sales role in the biopharma industry, with preferred experience selling into the cell and gene therapy segments.
At least 1-2 years of sales experience in plasmid DNA services for CDMO supporting gene and cell therapies.
At least 1-2 years of experience in the clinical drug development process, including knowledge of the market, resonating value propositions, and sales cycle.
Willingness to travel up to 50% as necessary
