Department: Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI)

Reports To: VP QA Improvement

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours - Days

Starting Wage: $21.55 - $24.62 per hour plus mileage reimbursement

Your Core Responsibilities

Conduct financial audits across homes.

Review ledgers, bank statements, in-house accounts, receipts, and change returns to ensure accuracy.

Verify compliance with agency processes for banking needs forms, withdrawals from savings or house accounts for manager/staff use, receipt tracking with signatures, change reconciliation down to the penny, and audit purchases on Wegmans/Walmart and gas cards to identify theft or misuse.

Check for compliance with OPWDD/Medicaid standards to avoid citations.

Provide on-the-spot training when errors are identified, while still documenting and citing all findings.

Collaborate with a team of six QI professionals specializing in different audit areas (finances, medical, physical plant, etc.).

Support the agency's goal of completing two audits per year across main service areas, with medical reviews at least annually.

Prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective action and follow-up to ensure resolution.

Partner with program managers and frontline staff to strengthen financial accountability and operational efficiency.

Maintain confidentiality and professional integrity while managing sensitive financial data.

What You Bring

Strong financial skills: balancing ledgers, reconciling accounts, and reviewing checkbooks.

Extreme attention to detail – every penny and every receipt matters.

Confidence to cite errors, follow through with corrections, and hold staff accountable.

Ability to teach and support staff while maintaining compliance.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and staff guidance.

Nonprofit/OPWDD experience a plus, but not required (rules can be taught).

Degree not required – practical money management skills are most important.

Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple audits simultaneously.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and data entry systems.

Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation required.
