Behavior Intervention Technician (Jan 2026) – Escondido Union School District
Qualifications
Secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent.
Completion of at least two years of study (minimum 48 semester hours) at a post‑secondary institution; an associate’s degree or higher; or passing a rigorous assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics that meets State and Federal requirements.
Students must provide college transcripts with 48 units or more in core subject area courses with a grade of “C” or better to be exempt from the NCLB examination; otherwise a letter requesting an exam date.
Applicants must attach either the required transcripts or a letter requesting an exam date; application incomplete without one.
Eligibility & Certification The District will establish an eligibility list for up to six months (2025‑2026 school year). Successful candidates must:
Subscribe to an Oath of Allegiance
Pass a general tuberculosis examination and a pre‑placement physical examination
Be fingerprinted and submit proof of identity and right to work in the United States
Undergo a drug test (drug‑free workplace policy) and pass drug testing
Meet all examination requirements and achieve placement on the eligibility list by passing all examination parts for the classification
Certification Process:
The Classified Personnel Director submits the names of the top three candidates to the appointing authority after a vacancy arises. The appointing authority may select any one of those candidates. Candidates not appointed remain on the eligibility list.

Work Details
Eligibility list duration: up to 12 months (including employee service credit up to 5 points)
Part‑time position (employees working 5 hours or more per day receive full benefits)
Shift differential for work between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. – 3.75% above base rate.
Benefits: family medical coverage, employee life and vision, employee or family dental coverage for employees 5 hours or more per day; vacation, sick leave, and retirement coverage per California Public Employees Retirement System requirements.
