The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all machined parts and assemblies meet the company’s quality standards. Duties include inspecting parts for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications, and identifying defects or non-conformances. The role also covers inspecting incoming raw materials and products for compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, and specifications. Key Responsibilities
Mechanical inspection of parts produced by the machine shop (80% of work) Conduct Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) inspections of castings, forgings, machined parts, sheet metal parts and assemblies from vendors or fabricated in-house. Inspect machined parts for proper material, processes, completion of operations, workmanship and conformance to engineering approved sketches, drawings and specifications. Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications and perform mathematical computations. Conduct visual inspections and use standard inspection devices such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, dial bore gauges, optical comparators and thread gauges. Apply geometric tolerance concepts: roundness, concentricity, flatness, runout, perpendicularity, parallelism. Use Keyence Optical Comparator and create new programs for new parts and assemblies. Record data on production documents, ensure accurate and complete documentation. Perform first article inspections at the machine or assembly and make accept/reject decisions. Inspect functional gages, fixtures, molds, dies, tooling for conformance to drawings. Prepare and maintain inspection reports and records. Receiving inspection of raw material, products and services (20% of work). Identify and report non-conformances, work with Quality Engineers and Managers to resolve issues. Assist other inspectors and perform related work requiring equal or lesser skill. Document non-conformances and maintain high quality standards. Other duties as assigned. Skills & Requirements
U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (ITAR compliance) Familiarity with AS9100 and AS9102 aerospace standards. Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, etc.). Strong understanding of computer operation, trigonometry, and AQL sampling methodologies. Read/write in English. Fastidious approach to maintaining quality standards. Computer skills: Windows, MS-Office (Outlook, Excel). Advanced knowledge of technical drawings (ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T). CMM experience and programming with PCDMIS is a plus. Keyence optical comparator programming is a plus. Work to dimensional tolerance as small as .0002
