Master Production Scheduler
Leidos’ Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing Facility is seeking a
Master Production Scheduler
to join our team of highly skilled planning and production scheduling professionals in the Huntsville, Alabama location. The Master Production Scheduler will act as a lead to the electronics manufacturing production scheduling group in delivering exceptional results for the facility. This role requires strong experience with Deltek Costpoint, and familiarity with APS or MES scheduling tools, Dynafact DMS, or equivalent, along with a deep understanding of electronics manufacturing processes including PCB assembly, component availability constraints, kitting, testing, and integration workflows.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide leadership and development for a team of production schedulers responsible for daily sequencing, order release approval, and progress tracking.
Create and maintain detailed weekly, and monthly master production schedules across SMT, PCB and Cable Assembly, coating, test, and box-build integration operations.
Ensure synchronization between MRP-planned orders in Costpoint and execution-level schedules in the facility’s MES/APS tools.
Validate pegging and material availability (component shortages, alternates, NCNR constraints, long‑lead items) align with MPS priorities.
Analyze sales forecasts and customer demand to ensure adequate capacity production levels.
Collaborate with Program Management, Supply Chain, and Production to align schedules with customer priorities and delivery milestones.
Conduct rough‑cut capacity analysis across SMT lines, coating ovens, ESS/test cells, and assembly work centers, identifying bottlenecks and proposing mitigation plans.
Conduct capacity assessments and calculate task time to align production with demand and capacity.
Track production progress in real‑time, identify bottlenecks, and adjust schedules to address delays or equipment issues.
Monitor performance to plan (on‑time starts/completions, throughput, utilization, and WIP aging).
Generate regular reports on order status, production progress, and inventory levels.
Facilitate weekly cross‑functional schedule review meetings to communicate changes, risks, and recovery actions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling accuracy, planning lead times, and workflow efficiency.
Provide data‑driven insight into forecast impacts, backlog health, and long‑term capacity planning.
Perform change control & schedule risk analyses.
Serve as escalation point for schedule conflicts.
Champion scheduling best practices and standard work.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field with an 8‑12 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6‑10 years of prior relevant work experience. In lieu of a degree a HS diploma/GED with 10 years of experience will be considered.
5+ years of experience in production planning/scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of MRP/MPS principles, capacity planning, and resource leveling.
Strong ability to analyze data and identify trends for effective planning.
Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint, Dynafact DMS, or equivalent ERP/APS systems.
Demonstrated analytical skills using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
Aptitude for finding solutions to complex scheduling and production challenges.
Effective communication skills to coordinate with various teams and departments.
Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to manage multiple schedules and tasks simultaneously.
Experience in aerospace or defense electronics manufacturing.
Demonstrated success managing production schedules across shared‑resource facilities.
Experience in working in a project accounting environment.
Proven ability to collaborate across multiple programs and functions to resolve conflicts and maintain delivery performance.
Experience with production planning software and other scheduling tools.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Theory of Constraints concepts.
APICS/ASCM CPIM or PMP certification.
Strong analytical skills to interpret large amounts of data and isolate pertinent information.
Pay Range $82,550.00 - $149,225.00
