Major Functions
The primary responsibilities of this role include purchasing inventory and materials from suppliers at the lowest possible cost, while maintaining high standards for product quality, source reliability, and timely delivery to support manufacturing and repair operations.
Hourly Position
Mon-Fri 8am‑5pm
The position also involves sourcing, researching, and acquiring parts, equipment, and supplies essential for the MDI Diesel Garage. Additionally, the role requires effective inventory control, execution of shop administrative tasks, and organization of daily functions to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
Maintain proper stock levels of replacement equipment parts, accurate inventory of garage supplies, and purchase garage equipment.
Handle warranty part ordering/returns.
Process and manage receipts, payables, and invoices from suppliers in coordination with Warehouse Maintenance Clerk.
Work with the Indirect Procurement Management team to provide data and vendors for RFP’s and other pricing initiatives.
Maintain inventory and garage KPI dashboards.
Manage vendor performance for timely repairs and invoicing.
Maintain accident-related data for the Loss Prevention team, ensuring reimbursement is collected where appropriate.
Assist with preparing and maintaining price comparisons, warranty/maintenance information and related reports to inform purchasing decisions and contract management.
Support research and documentation of alternative part sources, vendor and supplier information, and cost-saving opportunities.
Provide administrative support by responding to vendor and customer inquiries, scheduling preventive maintenance, and participating in vendor meetings and discussions regarding equipment, parts and services.
Gain knowledge of new software as required, and train others as needed.
All other functions, as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
5 years of diesel part procurement experience required.
3 years of general office administration required.
3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
1 year of inventory management experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Proficiency in using a computer including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to work independently.
Proficiency in interpersonal relations, effective organizational abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Consistent and reliable attendance is required for this role.
