Data Center Operations HW Technician
Lockport, NY | Start Date: 1/5/2026 | 3rd shift 10pm-7am | 6 months with potential to extend
Scope The Data Center Operations team seeks a Site Operations Engineer passionate about troubleshooting and improving operations and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Maintain and repair servers and network equipment to ensure maximum uptime.
Respond to work requests prioritized by the business.
Perform troubleshooting with depth in one discipline and breadth across many.
Use in-house tools to install operating systems, create DNS records, configure switches, and perform other data center functions.
Partner with engineering teams to execute change requests.
Communicate directly with internal customer technical contacts.
Overnight and swing shifts may be required – this is a 24x7x365 support team.
Required Qualifications
A 2-year degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating environment with the ability to navigate, manipulate, and understand the file structure.
Basic understanding of the TCP/IP network environment, including switching and routing protocols.
Basic knowledge of common scripting languages (BASH, Python, Perl, etc).
Ability to perform manual tasks, work on a ladder, and function in a higher-temperature environment.
Ideal Candidates
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience handling fiber physical plant.
Experience coding with a common scripting language (BASH, Python, Perl, etc).
