Cash Posting Associate

Job Summary: Prepares the daily deposit of cash receipts and provides documentation to post patient payments to patient accounts or the general ledger. Coordinates daily with supervisor to balance the day’s cash deposit.
Job Requirements
High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
Healthcare experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications
Certified Patient Account Technician (CPAT): Preferred
Essential Functions
Maintain an accurate record of daily cash receipts through mail, courier, lock box, and electronic funds transfer. Prepare deposit for all cash receipts.
Post insurance and personal payments to correct accounts from copies of checks, receipts, and electronic transactions. Calculate and verify correct contractual adjustment and post to correct patient account.
Calculate the proration of lump-sum payments for application to multiple accounts such as in case of disputed claim settlements.
Correct carrier or financial class assignment to match the actual payer. Research unidentified payments and process appropriately. Process transmittal letters.
Post zero payments in a timely fashion.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
