Field Project Manager 1 - Dallas, TX Convergint is looking for a full‑time, enthusiastic, results‑driven and forward‑thinking Field Project Manager to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, programming, system start‑up/check‑out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will work with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are effectively executed within contractual scope, budgeted cost, and time schedules.

Responsibilities

Oversee overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.

Work with the Project Coordinator to prepare the project installation plan and implement job procedures.

Supervise Project Specialists, Installers and subcontractors in the field. May perform managerial responsibilities including mentoring, coaching, developing colleagues, planning, assigning and directing work.

Coordinate and supervise subcontractors including directing on‑site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.

Work closely with the Project Coordinator to assist in the overall coordination of specific projects; make recommendations regarding potential changes in scope and identify ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.

Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties, and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and to control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.

Responsible for the overall quality of the installation in accordance with national and local codes and company standards.

Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation. Act as key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and maximize customer satisfaction.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Qualifications

Exceptional customer focus and ability to regularly work under pressure; consistent ability to maintain awareness of and meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.

Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems; may adapt procedures, processes, tools to meet the more complex requirements of the job.

Strong field supervision skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.

Self‑starter and able to work well without supervision.

Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with a variety of hand and power tools; advanced math skills for calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).

Frequent visits to jobsites required; minimal overnight travel; valid driver’s license required.

Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Advanced organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Requirements Education:

College degree, trade school or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience:

5–7 years relevant

Preferred Experience:

Experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation; College degree in Electronics.
