The Manager of Flow Cytometry oversees day-to-day flow cytometry test development, optimization and pre-validation/validation activities . This role manages a team of scientists/technologists and partners closely with our Clinical team. The Manager will report to the Chief Science Officer with an indirect reporting relationship to the Vice President of Product Development and work within a dynamic team that includes biologists, chemists, technicians, physicians and senior management to develop novel diagnostic tests. Key responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and supervise a small team (2–4) of flow cytometry scientists/technologists (BS and MS) in flow cytometry test development. The position will also entail hands‑on laboratory work by the Manager. Development of human sample processing protocols, panel development, instrument scheduling. Prioritization of tasks and timeline development with project management. Instrument standardization, panel design and optimization, compensation/unmixing, gating strategies, data review workflows, and LIS/LIMS integration for result reporting. Compliance with existing written procedures for qualification and use of flow cytometers, including sample records, startup/shutdown procedures, QC checks, and reporting of deviations. Write and edit internal protocols and SOPs for sample related with new flow cytometry test methods in conjunction with other team members. Provide scientific analysis and oversight for complex novel assays. Compliance with internal quality requirements and CLIA/CAP/FDA requirements for validation, including documentation, deviation management, and audit readiness in conjunction with the Clinical team. Data analysis using flow cytometry data analysis software and internal machine learning algorithms. Written and verbal communication: reporting to management, project teams and externally to the company (scientific meetings, posters, publications). Required qualifications
MS or PhD in biology, immunology, laboratory science or related field. 5 years of hands‑on flow cytometry experience, including multi‑color or spectral panels, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role. Spectral cytometry experience is a plus. Flow cytometry test development experience including optimization, analytical validation (precision, accuracy, reportable range, reference intervals, stability, statistical analysis, etc.). Clinical testing lab experience is a plus. Strong expertise in panel design, compensation/spectral unmixing, and troubleshooting instrument and staining issues. Familiarity with clinical or regulated environments (CLIA, CAP, GCP, or equivalent) and method validation best practices. Proficiency with analysis tools (FlowJo/FCS Express/R/Python) and standard gating and QA/QC approaches. Familiarity with statistics, machine learning and code development is a plus.
