MISO’s Unified Incident Response Manager
oversees the Unified Incident Response (UIR) Team’s projects, initiatives, and ongoing activities related to incident response and business continuity. The role involves collaborating with the Director to develop, communicate, and execute the UIR team’s strategic vision, ensuring alignment with MISO’s Information Security Strategy and corporate priorities. It includes establishing and maintaining standardized processes and procedures for responding to emergencies or incidents of any size or impact. Responsibilities
Work with teams across MISO to ensure the incident response program supports business needs, continuity planning, and overall strategy. Create and oversee incident response processes to enhance readiness, resilience, and risk management. Set team priorities, delegate tasks, and ensure critical projects are completed successfully. Lead company‑wide training and preparedness efforts for incidents that could impact MISO and the bulk electric system. Stay updated on best practices and industry trends, identifying opportunities to improve MISO’s incident response program. Manage employee performance and provide training and development opportunities in line with company goals. Plan and oversee department budgets to ensure resources are used effectively. Handle hiring needs, including writing job descriptions, interviewing, and filling positions efficiently. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Disaster or Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or a related field (or four years of relevant work experience equivalency) required. Demonstrated leadership abilities via mentoring relationships, leading initiatives with strong collaboration, or leading ad hoc teams (preferred). Five or more years of Emergency Management/Homeland Security experience. Specific experience within any of the following: Risk Management, IT Cyber threat, experience in local, state, or federal emergency management or public safety (preferred). Previous energy industry experience (preferred). The base salary compensation range for this role is $159,000 - $184,000 USD annually. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
