What You’ll Do
Develop and lead a Safety Culture that is consistent with CMC standards
Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
Exhibit integrity, trust, and respect through strong moral character, demonstrating leadership and communication skills
Provide guidance and direction on staff including hiring, disciplinary action, staff development, goal formulation and performance review
Implement and maintain all Job Safety Analysis and Work Instruction documents for the department
Work with Managers as part of the Management Team
Manage, schedule and provide direction for day to day operations of the Rolling Mill
Advocate sound business practices to support mill operational processes to safely produce a quality product within budget, on schedule and in alignment with plant and company strategy
Assist in developing short-term and long-term production goals and capital requirements necessary to facilitate these objectives
Establish and maintain production procedures and recordkeeping of process changes
Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and other forms of data analytics to meet or exceed departmental goals, objectives, & forecasting models
Ensure that the business plan objectives for cost and tonnage projections are met
Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
Ensure an environment of continuous improvement is maintained and work closely with other CMC counterparts to identify areas of improvement
What You’ll Need
Minimum of 5 years of Rolling Mill experience
In depth knowledge and understanding of Steel Rolling theories and fundamentals
Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills by performing multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritizing work assignments
Possess strong management skills with the ability to oversee Shift supervisors and hourly employees in a Non-Union environment
Ability to create and oversee budgets and monthly spending
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective listening and communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with strong work ethic, attention to details and find root causes for issues
Displays a positive, can‑do attitude; maintains composure when faced with difficult situations
Ability to work flexible hours and be available as needed by the business
Ability to stand for duration of shift; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift
Your Education
Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in area of specialty preferred. Additional educational experience is a plus
