We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced paralegal to play an important role on our legal team. You'll draft legal documents such as affidavits, prepare briefs, conduct legal research for trial preparation, and keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible. Responsibilities
Prepare cases involving removal defense, family immigration, employment immigration, asylum, naturalization, and crime victim visas (with strong attorney and administrative support)
Independently and proactively manage high volume caseload in a fast‑paced environment including document review, preparation, and filing of immigrant petitions with USCIS, EOIR & NVC
Communicate both orally and in writing with individual and corporate clients, as well as government agencies
Monitor deadlines and expiration dates, follow office procedures and attorney directions
Manage client communication and government correspondence
Provide exceptional customer service
Work directly with the team of attorneys and partners to ensure the highest quality of legal representation for clients
Take on special projects and other duties as assigned
Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings such as complaints, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits, under the supervision of a lawyer
Arrange law office activity such as drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed
Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses
Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews
Qualifications
Bilingual English‑Spanish strongly preferred
Demonstrated commitment to immigrants' and civil rights issues
Strong desire to develop professionally within the firm and in the immigration legal community
Highly detail-oriented and proactive
Works well under pressure and understands the importance of deadlines
Strong communication skills – on the phone, via email, and in person
Professional and courteous; positive attitude
Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education
Must have great time‑management skills, and organizational skills
Candidates must have completed an ABA‑approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred
At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
Must have strong interpersonal skills and talent for writing and grammar
Compensation $43,000 - $60,000 yearly DOE
