Responsibilities
Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs
Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete), box culvert, sign structures, retaining walls and interchange design for highway projects
Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, and develop structural details using specialized software
Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
Develop structural details using basic structural design and analysis software
Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
Experience in bridge/structural design including deep foundation design and prestressed concrete design
Knowledge of Projectwise, BGS, Bridgelink; familiarity with TxDOT bridge design manuals, guidance, bridge standards, preferred practices and software.
Experience using Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler, Projectwise, MathCAD, Bluebeam
Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: BGS, SPColumn, BridgeLink
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and knowledge of engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
Bentley OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3D
Strong understanding and hands‑on use of computers for structural layout and design
Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment
