Burns & McDonnell – Transportation Project Manager
Burns & McDonnell’s Transportation Practice is seeking a Transportation Project Manager to join our growing team in Orlando. The ideal candidate has excellent client interaction skills and can design, manage, and lead roadway design teams for projects locally and across the nation.
In this role, you will manage all aspects of projects from business development and scope/fee development to design development, project oversight, quality management, and financial performance.
Responsibilities
Adhere to Burns & McDonnell’s safety programs, training, and policies, and promote and manage the Safety & Health performance of project team members and subcontractors.
Work with a multi‑discipline team of engineers and technicians to design and manage roadway and site development projects, including geometric design of roadways & interchanges, drainage design, utility coordination, and traffic control plan development.
Client development, maintenance, and management; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling; and establishment of critical project objectives and performances.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related accredited program.
Minimum 7 years related experience.
Florida licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within six months.
General business and financial calculation knowledge.
Knowledge of transportation design guides including AASHTO Greenbook, Roadside Design Guide, and MUTCD.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
Past roadway design and project management experience for municipal and DOT clients.
Experience managing alternative delivery projects and major interstate projects a plus.
Client contacts with FDOT, Expressways and/or municipalities preferred.
