Maintenance Trades Assistant – NavSea San Diego PCSI is looking for a Maintenance Trades Assistant at NavSea, San Diego, CA. The role involves minor adjustments and repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, waste systems, architectural and structural building components, doors, windows, floor systems, light carpentry, and roof systems.

Reports to the Project Manager and is based at NavSea in San Diego. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Benefits

Base pay of $20.77 /hr, depending on experience.

What You’ll Do

Minor adjustments and repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, waste systems, architectural and structural building components, doors, windows, floor systems, light carpentry, and roof systems.

Cleaning and maintaining mechanical rooms.

Preventative maintenance and minor repairs, including changing filters, cleaning cooling towers, heating and cooling coils, and changing fluorescent and other light bulbs.

Manufacture, repair, and installation of screens and glass.

Sign maintenance including inspections, replacement (setting/affixing), and painting.

Ensure all paperwork is completed.

Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.

Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.

Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.

Paint structures and equipment.

Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.

Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.

Hang doors and install door locks.

Replace broken window panes.

Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Other duties as assigned, such as moving or rearranging office furniture.

Operate a company‑owned vehicle (and cellular telephone) to transport self and others in performance of assigned duties; perform operator maintenance as required.

May be utilized by electricians or mechanics if necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Ability to perform the assigned duties.

Prior facility maintenance experience preferred.

Effective communication skills in English (speak, read, write).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb ladders; kneel, squat, bend, and reach frequently.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs up to 10 times per day.

Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks.

Knowledge of maintenance trades in a maintenance environment (prior government contractor experience preferred).

Ability to use hand tools and power tools required for installation, maintenance, and repair.

Successfully complete all applicable training modules assigned.

Other Requirements

Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.

Exposure to dirt, dust, loud noise, and outdoor weather conditions.

Availability to work at any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.

Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI clearance and DBIDS.
