Since 2014, we’ve partnered with Tampa International Airport to deliver world‑class program management, including the replacement of its main terminal. As the airport expands, we’re enhancing the baggage handling system (BHS) with a new belt‑loop system to increase efficiency and capacity.
We are seeking
Senior BHS Inspectors
for a three‑year, $300 million project. One inspector will supervise two other BHS Inspectors. We offer a competitive salary and per diem for out‑of‑state candidates, along with the opportunity to contribute to one of the nation’s most innovative airport programs.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with BHS Project Manager and Project Engineer on assigned duties and serve as a coordination resource to the project team.
Monitor field activities of subcontractors and report on progress.
Identify and verify remediation needs for non‑conforming work.
Maintain daily reports, site photos, and weekly/monthly status updates.
Review and understand all relevant contract documents and project systems.
Observe construction for compliance with plans, specifications, and industry standards.
Maintain accurate records of contractor performance and production.
Assist PM/PE in verifying quantities and materials for progress payments.
Monitor construction safety and report unsafe practices to contractor supervision and HCAA HSE.
Review look‑ahead schedules and coordinate upcoming work requirements.
Notify HCAA PM immediately of out‑of‑sequence work, quality issues, or emerging concerns.
Stay informed about nearby project coordination and shifting work areas.
Support airport operations requirements, including necessary notifications (SIRs, MCNs, NOTAMs).
Maintain a photo diary of ongoing work and issues and distribute weekly updates.
Participate in OAC meetings, safety meetings, QA/QC meetings, and inspections.
Provide clear communication with HCAA staff and contractors.
Here’s What You’ll Need
Prior conveyor package/baggage project experience.
Construction experience with new and/or renovated conveyance systems like cross‑belt sorters.
Strong mechanical and electrical technical background across multiple disciplines associated with these conveyor systems.
Willingness to work on‑site at Tampa, Florida Airport.
Ability to work evening shifts, extended hours, and weekends as needed.
Experience coordinating with contractors, project managers, and field stakeholders.
Familiarity with construction plans, specifications, and industry practices.
Ability to monitor construction activities for progress, quality, and conformance.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in an active airport environment.
Knowledge of airport operations and required security/notification processes (SIRs, MCNs, NOTAMs).
Experience using project management and construction controls software.
Experience participating in OAC, QA/QC, safety, and pre‑activity meetings.
Background in monitoring construction safety and reporting unsafe conditions.
