HD Shipping Solutions

About Us HD Shipping Solutions is a freight brokerage committed to delivering reliable, efficient transportation services to our customers. Just as important as our clients are the carrier partners we work with every day to move freight across the country. As we grow, we’re building a team that understands the importance of vetting, onboarding, and maintaining relationships with quality carriers. We’re currently looking for a

Carrier Specialist

to join our operations team and help strengthen our carrier network from the ground up.

Position Summary The

Carrier Specialist

plays a critical role in our day‑to‑day operations by sourcing, vetting, and onboarding motor carriers while ensuring we’re working with trustworthy and qualified partners. This position will focus on building and maintaining long‑term relationships with carriers, monitoring compliance, and working closely with internal teams to ensure smooth freight execution. It’s a fast‑paced, team‑oriented role suited for someone with a sharp eye for detail, solid judgment, and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Review carrier documents (W‑9, COI, MC authority, safety scores, etc.) for accuracy and compliance.

Verify insurance, safety ratings, and authority status using platforms like FMCSA, Carrier411, Carrier Assure, and GoHighway.

Perform fraud checks including phone verification, driver ID confirmation, and decal/photo verification.

Maintain a strict carrier qualification process in line with internal SOPs.

Build strong, ongoing relationships with reliable carriers and owner‑operators.

Serve as the main point of contact for carriers regarding load availability, expectations, and operational questions.

Monitor carrier performance and provide feedback to ensure service quality.

Operational Coordination

Collaborate with the operations team to match carriers with available loads.

Assist in resolving service issues such as late pickups/deliveries or detention requests.

Ensure all carrier documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date in our TMS/CRM systems.

Compliance & Risk Monitoring

Stay up to date on industry regulations and internal policies to ensure compliant carrier engagement.

Flag and report any suspicious carrier behavior or potential fraud risks immediately.

Conduct regular reviews of active carriers to ensure continued eligibility.

Qualifications

1+ year of experience in freight brokerage, carrier relations, or transportation operations.

Strong understanding of the FMCSA, carrier onboarding standards, and industry best practices.

Experience using vetting tools such as Carrier411, Carrier Assure, or RMIS preferred.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and transportation management software (TMS).

Problem‑solver with strong decision‑making skills and a team‑first attitude.

Competitive base salary + Commission.

Health, dental, and vision insurance.

401(k) plan with company match.

Paid time off and holidays.

Opportunities for training, professional development, and career growth.

If you’re passionate about freight, committed to operational excellence, and care deeply about working with the right carriers, not just any carriers, then we’d love to hear from you.
