Water Resources Project Manager
Location: Virginia Beach, Richmond, or Williamsburg, VA (hybrid schedule). VHB’s I-64 team is expanding and we’re looking for a project management‑level professional to bring innovative, cost‑effective, and sustainable solutions to our clients.
Overview In this role, you’ll work on diverse projects ranging from site‑specific developments to large‑scale watershed initiatives. Your expertise will help shape solutions for stormwater management, MS4 compliance, transportation drainage, green infrastructure, BMP retrofits, and flood mitigation.
Responsibilities
Oversee multidisciplinary projects with a hydrologic, hydraulic, or water quality focus, interacting with staff and clients.
Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies for riverine and coastal environments using current modeling software (e.g., PC SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, HY-8, SRH-2D/SMS).
Develop technical reports, design plans, construction documents, and specifications for water resources related projects.
Lead construction administration for water resource projects.
Collaborate with the integrated team to evaluate permit requirements and develop permit applications.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
Create and expand technical resources for staff.
Act as a mentor and aid in staff development.
Skills & Abilities
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Team-oriented with strong capability to motivate others.
Highly motivated self-starter.
Superior collaborative problem-solving ability with stakeholders, clients, and teammates.
Qualifications
BS in civil/environmental engineering or related discipline.
5–8+ years of professional water resources engineering and analysis experience.
Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling programs.
Project management experience on relevant projects.
Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Understanding of local, state, and federal permitting.
PE required.
