Position Summary
The Machine Shop Manager leads all aspects of machine shop operations, including team leadership, production planning, equipment oversight, workflow optimization, and quality compliance. This
in-person role
is responsible for building and developing a high-performing team while establishing scalable processes aligned with AS9100 and company production goals.
What You’ll Do
Launch and grow the new Machine Shop, including layout, workflow, and equipment planning
Hire, train, mentor, and manage machinists, programmers, setup technicians, and leads
Establish production priorities, schedules, and procedures to ensure on‑time, high‑quality delivery
Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste
Ensure adherence to the Quality Management System (AS9100) and all written procedures
Monitor performance, conduct evaluations, and provide coaching and feedback
Review production documentation for accuracy and completeness
Purchase and maintain shop tools and equipment
Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, suppliers, and customers
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, craftsmanship, and teamwork
Travel monthly to the Redlands, CA facility during the first 90 days for onboarding and alignment
Our Equipment and Tools
CNC Mills, Lathes, and Swiss machines
Esprit programming software
Experience with ShopVue and Machine Metrics is a plus
Materials include Kovar, stainless steels, titanium, and Inconel
Ongoing company‑supported training and development
What We’re Looking For Required
Experience managing a machine shop or technical manufacturing operation
Strong CNC machining, tooling, setup, and workflow knowledge
Proven leadership and team development skills
Proficiency with Esprit, Microsoft Excel, and Word (Mac OS preferred)
Strong knowledge of AS9100 or similar aerospace/defense quality systems
Automation‑focused, scalable manufacturing mindset
U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (ITAR compliance) only, standard for defense‑related work
Preferred
5+ years as a Machine Shop Manager, or equivalent
Experience managing machinists, programmers, and setup technicians
High school diploma, or equivalent
