The Quality Lead Inspector is responsible for coordinating and performing inspection activities to ensure aerospace components comply with all engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements. This position provides leadership to the inspection team, supports process compliance, and assists with maintaining the company’s Quality Management System in accordance with AS9100 standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support the assignments given to them by the Quality Inspection Team Leader.
Verify documentation, including work orders, material certs, process certs, and customer paperwork for compliance.
Maintain and enforce adherence to AS9100 and aerospace industry standards.
Knowledge of non‑destructive testing (NDT) methods.
Review inspection reports, FAIRs (AS9102), certificates of conformity, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and other quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T. Supports corrective and preventive action processes, including root‑cause analysis and follow‑up verification.
Maintain the work area (cleanliness, organization, etc.)
Communicates inspection findings, quality issues, and process concerns to the Quality Manager and relevant departments.
Promotes continuous improvement and participates in quality‑related initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework or certifications in quality or manufacturing preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of inspection experience in the aerospace industry.
Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and aerospace quality requirements.
Proficiency with precision measurement instruments, including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM equipment.
Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to lead, guide, and support team members.
High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
