Strategic Sourcing Specialist
Join Bastian Solutions as a Strategic Sourcing Specialist and play a key role in the supply chain management process. You will optimize savings and procedures by negotiating contracts, purchase agreements and developing policies across all manufacturing locations.
Responsibilities
Executing and managing competitive business-wide contracts and supplier relationships using combined volume across all business units to obtain better pricing and terms.
Researching current purchased parts and finding alternatives that are more readily available and cost‑effective.
Initiating a One Bastian approach in Procurement by setting up policies and procedures used at each location and reestablishing vendor accounts to purchase through a single corporate account.
Working with sister companies to combine similar product volumes and negotiate contracts with key suppliers.
Analyzing, collecting and summarizing data across the organization to support the decision‑making process on the overall future procurement strategy.
Establishing new policies and procedures for the procurement team.
Acting as a point of contact between the company and suppliers, maintaining relationships, and continually scouting for additional vendors to support future growth.
Working closely with the finance and legal departments to ensure contract terms are favorable.
Building sound, cost‑effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business.
Conducting quarterly business reviews with key suppliers to improve product quality and delivery timeliness.
Creating Vendor Scorecard templates and implementing them with the teams.
Helping define risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages (disaster recovery and business continuity plan).
Collaborating with key company employees to determine their product and service needs.
Implementing safety stock and forecasting algorithms within D365.
Supporting the establishment of corporate processes that meet JSOX expectations.
Negotiating agreements, contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors, both tactical (lowest price) and strategic (value vs cost).
Supporting the enhancement and improvement of the current vendor qualification process.
Working with IT to establish new reports and processes to enhance procurement functions.
Helping support cost savings initiatives with up‑and‑coming projects and current projects.
Travel Requirements
10% travel to visit suppliers and Bastian plants/regional offices.
Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications
Eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
Experience working in procurement functions, preferably in custom‑engineered products or project‑execution procurement rather than standard materials.
Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Able to travel to meet with suppliers as required.
Procurement/Supply Chain Management certifications desired (e.g., CPP, CPPM, CIPP, CIAPP, CPSM, MCIPS).
Impeccable time‑management, attention to detail and policy compliance.
Strategic mindset—ability to analyze and drive competitive advantage through procurement.
Relationship building and partnership development both internally and externally.
Financial acumen—ability to understand profitability drivers through procurement activities.
