Instructor 9M Business Administration Economics This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned courses.

This position has an option for 9m OR 12m.

Anticipated 9m Salary: $56,256

Anticipated 12m Salary: $75,000

Responsibilities

Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.

Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.

Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.

Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.

Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.

Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.

Constructs classroom materials that support the outcome of the course.

Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction.

Maintains regular office hours.

Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.

Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate.

Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology.

Assists with Program and student learning outcomes for the course, selects text, and constructs a syllabus.

Attends professional development opportunities when possible.

Participates in graduation exercises.

Participates in graduation exercises, Open House, Career Fair and other Wake Tech events.

Serves on college or department committees as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning.

Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others.

Ability to maintain records accurately and to meet deadlines consistently.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision.

Knowledge of and facility with technology and software, including computers and web-based resources such as Blackboard.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential.

Requirements Master's degree in Economics OR a Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Economics.
