Radiation Protection Team Leader (Radiation Protection Manager 3) Nevada

What You Will Do
Utilize your radiation protection (RP) and management skills to lead RP programs at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). Report to the Group Leader of Radiation Protection Field Support (RP‑FS) and provide oversight to RP professionals, ensuring the safety and health of employees and the community in support of Accelerator Operations, Weapons, and other research activities.
What You Need Minimum Job Requirements
Demonstrated experience influencing the development of RP organization objectives, policies, and procedures.
Experience advising staff and leading teams on facility processes and hazards, including site‑specific hazard assessments, training, and technical reporting.
Experience designing and ensuring safety and security protocols, implementing Integrated Safety Management or similar principles.
Experience implementing RP policy or operational changes to meet DOE or other regulatory requirements.
Experience managing individual contributors and direct reports, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and budgeting.
Bachelor's degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physical Science, or related field; minimum of five years relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree or current Health Physicist certification (ABHP).
Knowledge and experience in change management.
Knowledge of DOE/LANL missions, culture, and organizational structure.
Active DOE "Q" or other Top Secret clearance.
Work Location This position will be physically located at the Nevada Test Site, 65 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position Commitment Regular appointment employees must serve continuous service in the current position to be eligible for other LANL positions. The position commitment for this role is 1 year.

Additional Details Directive 206.2
– Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision indicating suitability under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (for US citizens). Foreign nationals are subject to DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance
– Position will be cleared to Q level. A Q clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
HRP
– The position is subject to DOE Human Reliability Program, requiring ongoing drug/alcohol testing and periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
DOE Order 426.2
– Publicly sponsors nuclear facilities, establishing entry‑level requirements.
New‑Employment Drug Test
– Successful applicants must pass a new‑employment drug test; positive results for marijuana will result in termination.
Regular Position Status
– Laboratory employees applying for regular‑status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants
– Internal appointment employees who meet continuous service requirements are eligible to apply for posted positions.
Incentive Compensation Program
– Eligible for the Triad Incentive Compensation Program; must be in an eligible position for at least 3 months before July 1 and continue through the fiscal year ending October 31.
