Business Development Manager
to join our Marketing and Business Development team to develop and deliver innovative, high-impact business development and marketing strategies that drive growth, strengthen client relationships, and enhance the firm’s profile across key practice areas, industry sectors, and region.

You’ll work both locally and globally, collaborating with colleagues across offices and time zones. This role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to contribute to strategic initiatives that shape the firm’s future.
You’ll be responsible for:
Developing the marketing and business development plans for some key Litigation & Investigations Practice Groups.
Liaising with lawyers, often leading meetings/calls to identify opportunities to develop business, aligning initiatives with our strategy.
Working closely with individual partners on personal BD plans – ensuring alignment with department priorities and helping to execute. Reporting back to BD team.
Leading on regional, practice, sector and other business development initiatives as needed. This may include global and cross‑practice initiatives.
Setting and managing agreed budgets and guidelines.
Managing and leading on complex practice group RFP and proposals, management and production of individual pitches/capability statements. This includes strategy setting, content development, partner preparation, and post‑pitch reviews. Tracking and monitoring as necessary to analyze success rates.
Planning and overseeing events, sponsorships, and conferences, identifying opportunities for networking, client engagement, and measurable ROI.
Leading on the execution of brand profiling projects, such as sponsorship, thought‑leadership and other campaigns from start to finish, leveraging internal support, driving collaboration and innovation.
Leading on internal and external comms e.g. PR opportunities, website and social media.
Working closely with partners and lawyers to identify client opportunities, support cross‑selling, and strengthen key client relationships.
Overseeing and leading on directory and awards submissions, including drafting and management of process.
Delegating certain tasks to the central Marketing Hub and other members of BD team for efficient delivery of projects.
Supporting priority client accounts as requested, ensuring alignment with firm‑wide client strategies and fostering collaboration across departments and sectors.
Managing membership of professional, business and trade bodies in order to maximize value.
Responsible for the line management of junior members of staff as assigned.
Ensuring best practices are adhered to, making suggestions to improve efficiency where possible, and sharing knowledge of upcoming industry trends and competitive market.
Performing other duties as assigned.

Skills and experience required
Degree educated; a marketing or business qualification preferred
At least 5 years’ experience in marketing or business development, ideally within professional services
Knowledge and experience of Litigation & Investigations preferred, but not essential
Skilled at influencing and collaborating across all levels of an organization and dealing professionally with all internal and external clients on all levels
Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen
Ability to work autonomously as well as collaborating as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to present to key stakeholders
Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
Experience and confident in managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously across multiple stakeholders and jurisdictions.
Positive, motivated, proactive and adaptable, with a strong sense of ownership
Strong understanding of client relationship management and business development best practices
Strong ability to work under pressure and with changing work priorities
Able to delegate effectively and supervise junior team members
Able to use and interpret data to influence and inform decisions
Ability to work varying hours as needed
Requires the ability to regularly report work on the days and times scheduled
Pursuant to the New York and Washington D.C. pay transparency laws, BCLP is posting a reasonable estimate of a compensation range for this position. At the time of posting, the estimated New York range is $140,000 to $219,000 and the estimated Washington D.C. range is $134,000 to $210,000. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to the level of relevant experience, skill sets, training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, market data, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. The range is based on a full‑time work schedule. Additional compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
