Qualifications
Ability to work independently and assume decision‑making responsibilities. (Required)
Ability to interact with students from various backgrounds (academic and cultural) on an individual basis or in group situations. (Required)
Ability to explain requirements and programs and offer guidance and reassurance appropriate to students. Skill in assessing special needs or skills. (Required)
Knowledge of departmental requirements, rules and policies as well as College procedures and rules. Knowledge of University & College of Letters & Science procedures as they relate to student affairs. (Required)
Knowledge of department course curriculum and content. Acquainted with faculty members and their areas of interest and expertise. (Preferred)
Skill in evaluating departmental curriculum needs and recommending changes where appropriate. (Required)
Ability to make oral group presentations to provide information on the academic programs and explain admission procedures and policies. (Preferred)
Skill in evaluating courses transferred from other institutions as to how they apply to department requirements, including schools outside of the country and Education Abroad Program. (Preferred)
Ability to listen actively and respond appropriately to individuals, in group situations and on the telephone, even when students are in stressful emotional states. (Required)
Knowledge of student services such as Placement & Career Planning Center, Academic Resources Coordination, Undergraduate Education, etc. (Required)
Ability to work with heavy student traffic and with frequent interruptions. (Required)
Ability to deal in person or on the telephone with requests and inquiries from persons outside the University community. Ability to act as a mediator between students and faculty members. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required)
