Youth Engagement Specialist - Detroit, MI
BuildOn is seeking an experienced, passionate, and committed professional to work with youth in Detroit, MI. This role involves service and education engagement at a partner high school.

Schedule:
Tuesday–Saturday during academic year; Monday–Friday outside of academic year
Hours:
7:30‑9 am start to 4‑5:30 pm end; hours vary per school assignment
Pay:
$21–$23 per hour ($43,680–$47,840 annually)
Benefits:
Medical, dental & vision insurance; 403(b) retirement match; 39 paid days off (10 vacation days + 2 company shutdown weeks + 7 personal days + 5 sick days + 7 holidays including Juneteenth)

Core Job Responsibilities Day To Day
Program Representation – Represent BuildOn as the sole staff at one designated partner high school.
Student Recruitment – Recruit students to serve with BuildOn in their communities, including lunchtime recruitment, student fair tabling, classroom presentations, transitional and trek recruitment.
Afterschool & Weekend Service – Plan, organize, and lead students in meaningful service‑learning projects with community organizations.
In‑Class Service Learning – Collaborate with teachers to facilitate up to six in‑class service‑learning lessons per month.
Weekly Program Meetings – Host meetings to build relationships and provide space for student input (once per week).
Student Leadership Team – Establish a student leadership team to support the programmatic experience at the designated school.
Administrative
Weekly Salesforce data entry.
Monthly engagement reports and monitoring.
Monthly regional service planning.
Each Semester
Service Kickoff – Large‑scale service opportunity within the first two months.
Fall and Spring City‑Wide Service – Large‑scale service events with students from multiple schools (goal: two per semester).
Celebrate BuildOn – End‑of‑school‑year award ceremony.
Summer Service – Leadership Training & summer service camp.
Ongoing Relationship Building
Build authentic relationships with students, incorporate student voice.
Establish, develop, and maintain partnerships with school staff, parents, and local community partners.
Connect students to external services when needed.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Support collaboration with Development, Marketing, Global, Finance, and HR to meet organizational goals.

2+ years of engaging youth in classroom or extracurricular programming.
Ambition and deep commitment toward ongoing goal achievement.
