Position Summary
The Chemical Operators work on a rotating shift team, focusing on field and control room chemical unit operations for safely running process systems and associated equipment during their shift. Typical Duties
Field Operator operates field equipment, draws process samples and prepares equipment for maintenance. Control Room Operator monitors and operates equipment and facilities which includes combustion units, scrubbers, absorption towers, heat exchangers and tanks via the Distributed Control System (DCS). Main Responsibilities
Adhere to standard work and standard operating procedures to ensure unit safety, quality and production goals are met. Take and interpret readings on various equipment, assess any variation to standard troubleshooting and take action to bring the process back to standard. Troubleshoot process issues and take corrective action to ensure a safe and sustainable operating area. Handle and work with highly hazardous chemicals and work in full body personal protective equipment (PPE). Effectively communicate and escale processes upsets and/or equipment issues within the organization. Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required. 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or chemical plant environment. Additional Qualifications
1 year of Chemical Operations background/experience is strongly preferred. Ability to work on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. Ability to work in a team environment. Perform the physical labor associated with the job. Strong work ethic and initiative to learn new processes. Work at elevated heights greater than 50 feet. Work in confined spaces. Deliver a safe workspace based on standard work. Demonstrate troubleshooting and take corrective action within an industrial setting. Advanced troubleshooting skills. Handle and work with highly hazardous chemical intermediates. Wear full body PPE including acid suit, full face respirator and hood. Load and unload bulk liquid chemical trucks and rail cars. Communicate through multiple layers of an organization. Compensation and Benefits
