Job Title: Energy Planning Section Supervisor (25142887) – Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

Responsibilities
Review of utility electricity resource plans.
Engagement in regional electricity transmission planning and market development.
Administration of grid resiliency funding.
Administration of multifamily energy retrofit and alternative energy revolving loan programs.
Electric vehicle and alternative fuel planning and funding programs.
Energy security planning and management of energy supply emergencies.
Energy policy analysis.
Wind and solar facility bonding and decommissioning.
Implementation of Agency, Division, and Bureau direction and oversight of day‑to‑day operations of the programs within the Section.
Staff leadership: communication of priorities and expectations, development and coordination of annual work plans, timely feedback, personnel management, and implementation of the professional growth matrix.
Collaboration with the Energy Bureau Chief to establish strategic direction and assess effectiveness of Section and Bureau operations.
Implementation of policies and procedures for regulatory compliance and continuous business process improvement.
Program funding management in compliance with statutory and funding source requirements, procurement and contracting processes, budget monitoring, and evaluation results.
Development of stakeholder relationships among diverse interest groups to find mutually beneficial solutions.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education.
Minimum: Three years of progressively responsible experience including demonstrated leadership or supervision, proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred: Experience with business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, prioritization, human resources management, leadership techniques, coordination of people and resources, and stakeholder outreach communication skills.
Preferred: Education or experience in the program area.
May require a current valid Driver’s License and clean driving record in accordance with the State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Compensation and Benefits Salary: $82,964.00 – $90,250.00 per year.
Telework Eligibility: Telework Eligible (Full‑time telework is not available. Telework schedule must be supervisor approved.)
