Quality Inspector – Leidos Defense Systems, Colorado Manufacturing Facility Leidos’ Defense Systems – Colorado Manufacturing Facility is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team. In this role, you’ll ensure machined components and assemblies meet strict quality standards in accordance with drawings, specifications, and procedures. You’ll also play a key part in supporting documentation, troubleshooting, and non‑conformance tracking–directly impacting the performance and reliability of mission‑critical hypersonic defense systems. This is a fast‑paced environment where attention to detail, self‑direction, and teamwork are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
Inspect machined components and assemblies.
Identify and document nonconformance and support root cause analysis investigations.
Read, interpret, and understand technical documents (drawings, specifications, test procedures, etc.).
Create and compile acceptance data packages for customer approval of build assets.
Prepare and maintain AS9102 reports, inspection records, quality documentation, and discrepancy reports.
Operate standard inspection and measuring equipment, CMMs, and GOM Scanning Equipment against tight tolerances utilizing GD&T and embedded model dimensioning.
Participate in, and provide necessary support of corrective actions, documentation control, calibration, and receiving inspection.
Basic Qualifications
High School diploma/GED with 3 – 5 years of relevant Quality Inspection experience required.
Must have knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret drawings.
Must have knowledge and understanding of how to efficiently use micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks, radius gauges, calipers and other measuring equipment typical to a manufacturing environment.
Must have experience in an ISO9001/AS9100 manufacturing environment.
Must be able to populate handwritten or computer‑generated inspection reports.
Must have practical computer skills and experience using software such as Microsoft Office.
Must be able to work full‑time with minimal supervision and the ability to adjust priorities based on workflow.
Must be willing to travel to customer sites to perform quality inspections, as necessary.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
Candidate must be a resident of the Colorado Springs area or willing to relocate to the Colorado Springs – Monument – Pueblo, CO area.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience inspecting complex aerospace hardware and supporting Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection and Acceptance Data Pack review/creation.
Knowledge of AS5553 counterfeit prevention practices.
Experience in handling non‑conforming materials and writing/processing NCRs.
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
