Job Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Manager, Youth Soccer Supervisors are responsible for aiding in the set‑up, monitoring, and breakdown of Streamwood Park District soccer league games. This is a part‑time position that runs on Saturdays, with hours varying but not exceeding 8 per week. This is an at‑will position.
Classification
Part Time, Non‑Exempt, Non‑IMRF eligible
Qualifications
Candidate must be at least 16 years of age.
Candidate must have completed a minimum of two years of high school.
Preference given to candidates with previous league supervision experience.
Candidate must be task‑oriented, organized, energetic, and detailed.
Candidate must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with patrons, the public, co‑workers, and supervisors.
Candidate must be First Aid, CPR, and AED certified within (3) months of hiring.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work directly with the Recreation Manager on referee assigning and other duties regarding referees/officials.
Arrive approximately 1 hour prior to league play.
Operate gym curtain divider and follow proper layouts for setting up courts for game play.
Prepare playing area by placing soccer goal nets, player benches, moving bleachers, and hooking up the scoreboard at least 15 minutes prior to game start.
Speak to coaches before the start of the game and answer any questions courteously.
Supervise the safety of the games and provide assistance if injuries occur.
Document any major safety issues with the Recreation Manager.
Read and understand all rules pertaining to the Streamwood Park District Soccer League.
Maintain a copy of the rules available at each game.
Keep score and time for game play, acting as a peacekeeper between parents, coaches, and referees during gameplay.
Return all player benches, goals, score clocks, and other equipment to storage facilities at the end of the day’s games.
Perform all tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Streamwood Park District’s safety program.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
Contact the Recreation Manager with greater than 24‑hour notice when unable to attend the work schedule.
Maintain a positive relationship with co‑workers, participants, coaches, and parents.
Manage property and equipment, ensuring appropriate levels of safety and cleanliness.
Maintain a positive, supportive attitude toward the Park District.
Maintain an appropriate customer‑service attitude.
Adhere to Park District policies and procedures as set forth in the Part‑Time and Seasonal Personnel Policies Manual.
Be available for other duties as assigned or needed.
Cognitive Considerations
Demonstrate a basic knowledge of athletics.
Follow directions and communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
Read and understand materials such as rules, regulations, books, manuals, and schedules.
Make objective decisions based on customer service and fiscal constraints.
Troubleshoot issues and problems associated with assigned sports leagues, early childhood, youth, and adult athletics.
Use good safety awareness and judgment.
Psychological Considerations
Work independently in day‑to‑day operations with general direction from the Athletic Supervisor and/or the Recreation Manager.
Demonstrate leadership and task‑oriented qualities while following a time schedule.
Work in a team atmosphere, promoting the Park District’s mission statement, vision, and core values.
Maintain self‑control and composure in difficult situations.
Recognize priorities and meet deadlines.
Receive constructive criticism and/or supervision.
Be flexible and adaptable to new situations.
Possess enthusiasm and drive with a desire to accomplish goals and objectives.
Communicate with co‑workers and other park district staff in various facilities.
Interact with patrons and participants, occasionally in stressful situations.
Focus attention for 1‑hour time spans.
Environmental & Physical Demands
Work inside and outside under various environmental conditions (e.g., rain, mud, hot and cold temperatures, dust, fumes, dirt, noise).
Operate and handle assigned equipment.
Exhibit physical agility to move from site to site, performing moderate to heavy manual tasks.
Possibly lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and perform prolonged lifting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing for extended periods.
Pay Information
Current Pay Range: $15.00 - $15.00 per hour New Hire Pay Rate: Newly hired employee can expect $15.00 per hour
