Summary of the Role Support the Microbiology and Environmental Monitoring group at a big biopharma leader’s GMP Manufacturing facility. Perform routine environmental and utilities sampling and testing, working 50% in the lab and 50% on the manufacturing floor. This hands‑on role requires flexibility, eagerness to learn, and comfort with split-week scheduling. You’ll play a key part in ensuring compliance and maintaining a clean manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine environmental monitoring sampling in classified manufacturing areas
Assist with environmental monitoring performance qualifications
Collect routine samples for utility monitoring, including water, gases, and clean steam systems
Support clean utilities performance qualifications such as water for injection and compressed air systems
Assist with general laboratory startup activities
Execute routine laboratory tasks, including cleaning and inventory management
Enter data accurately using Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Laboratory Execution Management System (LMES)
Support scheduled weekend and public holiday monitoring activities as required
Required Experience & Skills
Basic science background (science degree or prior laboratory experience)
Knowledge of aseptic technique
Proficient in good documentation practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility and willingness to work varied schedules, including split weeks
Ability to work in both lab and manufacturing floor environments
Preferred Qualifications
Environmental monitoring experience in academic or professional setting
Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
Familiarity with microbiology
Some laboratory experience
Top 3 Must Have Skills
Basic science background (science degree or prior laboratory experience); environmental monitoring or microbiology experience is a plus
Knowledge of aseptic technique
Proficient in good documentation practices (GMP experience not required but basic laboratory writing skills/GDP/GLP knowledge preferred)
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Perform environmental monitoring sampling in classified areas
Conduct routine sampling of water and gas clean utilities systems
Operate equipment such as microbial air samplers and particle counters
Record and manage data in LIMS and LMES
Follow assigned split-week schedule, supporting activities over weekends when required
Basic Qualifications
High school/GED + 2 years work experience
Associates degree and 6 months work experience
Bachelors degree
