Position Overview
As a Technical Quotes Representative, you will play a mission‑critical role in delivering fast, accurate, technically validated quotes for sealing products and custom‑engineered components.
This role is heavily purchasing/procurement‑facing —you’ll spend a significant portion of your time sourcing materials and components, validating supplier pricing and lead times, and building quote cost structures that are accurate and competitive.
You will support sales, engineering, procurement, and key customers while directly influencing quoting accuracy and win rates in a growing technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate, detailed quotes for sealing products, gaskets, O‑rings, PTFE parts, and custom‑fabricated components.
Review RFQs and translate requirements into a clear sourcing and costing plan.
Interpret customer drawings, engineering prints, tolerances, materials, and performance requirements.
Validate manufacturability and feasibility prior to releasing quotes.
Partner with engineering and operations to confirm capability, cost assumptions, and alternative solutions.
Own the purchasing side of quoting:
Coordinate with procurement to verify material availability, supplier capability, vendor pricing, and lead times.
Source and request pricing from approved suppliers (and identify alternates when needed).
Compare quotes from multiple vendors and recommend best‑value options (cost, lead time, quality).
Support supplier communication to clarify specs, packaging, certifications, and compliance requirements.
Build cost structures for custom components using BOMs, machining/fabrication processes, and material usage.
Maintain quoting accuracy across ERP/CRM systems.
Communicate with customers to clarify technical specifications and application needs.
Recommend materials and product alternatives when appropriate.
Support sales and customer service teams with technical insights.
Track quote KPIs: turnaround time, accuracy, win/loss performance.
Required Background
Bachelor’s degree preferred; technical or manufacturing‑related degree a plus.
2–5 years’ experience in sealing products, gaskets, O‑rings, industrial distribution, or engineered components.
Proven experience generating technical quotes in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Purchasing/sourcing experience required
(supplier pricing, lead times, RFQs, vendor communication).
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, materials, tolerances, and specifications.
Understanding of elastomers, rubber compounds, PTFE, plastics, and common sealing materials.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes: die cutting, molding, extrusion, machining.
ERP quoting experience (Epicor, SAP, NetSuite, IQMS).
Strong Excel skills for costing and quote analysis.
Excellent communication skills for technical clarifications and supplier/customer interaction.
High accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work under fast quoting timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience at a sealing/gasket/O‑ring manufacturer or distributor.
Knowledge of ASTM, ASME, ISO, or MIL standards for sealing materials.
Understanding of tolerance stack‑ups and GD&T concepts.
Experience quoting custom machined PTFE, elastomer, or polymer components.
Experience working with approved vendor lists, supplier scorecards, or basic supplier performance metrics.
