Pay: $6,745.00 – $7,839.00 per month
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Job Summary Responsible for supervising a crew that operates and maintains ventilation, water pumping equipment, electrical systems, lighting and traffic control devices in vehicular tunnels and tubes. Acts as the ranking officer on duty for Caltrans District 3 after regular working hours. Makes decisions within prescribed guidelines and ensures safety and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate crew activities for tunnel operations and maintenance.
Operate and maintain ventilation, water pumping equipment, electrical systems, lighting, and traffic control devices.
Respond to equipment failures and emergencies, including potential facility closures.
Serve as ranking officer on duty after hours for Caltrans District 3.
Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Qualifications & Minimum Requirements
Eligibility to sit for the Supervisor, Tunnels and Tubes exam or evidence of current eligibility via transfer, reinstatement, or other state civil service exception.
Valid and unrestricted Class C driver’s license.
Experience with tunnel operations, ventilation systems, or related supervisory duties preferred.
Strong judgment and decision‑making skills within state guidelines.
Ability to work a 9‑hour shift and be available after hours.
