Gift Planning Officer – American Red Cross – Work from home within the Massachusetts and Northern New England Regions (MA, VT, NH, ME).
As a Gift Planning Officer, you will develop, design and implement a gift planning program focused on new gift commitments. You will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward planned gift prospects and donors, and develop strategies to increase funding capacity and maximize donor relationships.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage the gift planning strategy for a portfolio of prospects across the regions.
Drive growth of the Legacy Society membership and oversee stewardship for all planned giving donors.
Provide training on gift planning and deliver gift conversations to advance knowledge and opportunities.
Stay current on gift planning trends and fundraising techniques through meetings, conferences and training.
Assist the region’s development team in soliciting planned and current gifts.
Collaborate with local financial and estate planning associations on meetings to position the Red Cross as the charity of choice.
Support reporting of estate documents to the Office of General Counsel.
Communicate with the Director of Gift Planning about donor and gift activity.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum five years of major gift or gift planning fundraising experience, with cultivating and soliciting.
Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and fundraising principles in a large organization.
Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, tact and diplomacy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; training with PG Calc or Crescendo desirable.
Knowledge of Red Cross corporate culture preferred.
Operational flexibility and moderate travel (20‑30%) required.
Valid driver’s license required.
Salary $95,000 – $115,000 per year (geo‑specific adjustments will be discussed during screening).
