Inventory Control Clerk - Weekend Day Shift

Position Summary
Penske Logistics is looking for an Inventory Control Clerk to become part of an excellent team servicing the nation’s largest grocery store chain at our Shelbyville, Indiana location. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are safety conscious and have a pleasant and outgoing attitude who want to excel in a warehouse environment. This is a first shift position. Weekends required.
Position Details Thursday to Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
$22.00
base rate + a
$2.00
shift differential (Fridays and Saturdays only)
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensuring system count matches physical inventory
Resolve discrepancies at location and pallet level
Look for missing product in storage locations
Update WMS to match physical inventory through various methods
Research and document root cause
Ensuring proper rotation of product
Analyze reports to identify rotation issues
Ensure rotation is physically moved as required
Accurately receive inventory
Work with checkers to ensure accurate receipt of inventory
Audit inbound receipts, both physically and through receipt documentation
Accurately induct x‑dock into inventory
Data setup and validation
Accurately input required data elements into WMS and other applications
Audit existing data for inaccuracies
Manage unsalable inventory to resolution
Accurately document information on product recalls, including physically segregating as required
Work with procurement on product expiration and product holds to final resolution
Accurately record dump/donate and other product dispositions
Ensure appropriate signage is accurately located in the distribution center
Process analysis and documentation
Work with inventory management to document and train inventory procedures to warehouse operations
Assist with daily and weekly reports
Assist in the development and implementation of special projects and tasks
All other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules
Read, write, understand and speak English
Ability to handle multiple tasks independently with precise detail and follow‑up reporting
Must have knowledge of computers and ability to learn WMS and various internal applications
Must use handheld computers/scanners
Operate material handling equipment; occasionally moving product in warehouse
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required
Physical Requirements
Ability to remember and understand certain instructions, guidelines or other information; must be able to see and verbally communicate
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Must move frequently, stand, walk and sit in the course of duties; must be able to use hands to touch, handle and feel, and to reach with hands and arms
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg)
