ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES Safety

Enforce the DAVIS Safety program in accordance with DAVIS policies and processes, local, state, and federal laws to include all subcontractors

Participate in and report on safety walks

Assist in the development of project‑specific safety plan and orientation process

Obtain and maintain current certifications for First Aid, CPR and OSHA

Technical Knowledge

Provide operational support in pre‑construction services and bidding, preparing cost estimates, generating scopes of work, and preliminary schedule as required

Participate in the development of DAVIS Bid or GMP Package, including trade scopes, subcontractor and material supplier bids, project schedule and bid clarifications for review and approval by senior staff

Assist with buy‑out process

Develop or assist with implementation of the project budget

Negotiate and issue subcontract agreements, purchase orders, submittals, RFIs, change orders, schedule management, and close‑out management under senior management direction

Support detailed project construction progress schedule in coordination with Superintendent, Project Manager, subcontractors, and suppliers; update schedule as needed

Prepare and maintain tracking logs for contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and material deliveries

Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs with guidance from Superintendent and Project Manager

Assist in sustainability and LEED tracking

Maintain current contract documents and as‑builts; electronically post and update drawings with RFIs and submittals

Prepare change proposals, negotiate, execute, and issue change orders; update budget accordingly

Understand and apply subcontract terms to project situations

Track and obtain necessary documents (contracts, insurance certificates, bonds, etc.)

Assist and/or lead project meetings—internal, owner or subcontract meetings—with supervision of lead Project Manager

Prepare subcontractor meeting agenda and materials; run weekly meetings with assistance

Maintain meeting notes and issue minutes approved by Project Manager

Assist in preparing Project Status Report (PSR) with safety, cost, schedule, risk, and photo updates

Review, approve, and code subcontractor and vendor invoices as directed

Partner with DAVIS Superintendent to run subcontractor pre‑construction, progress, and coordination meetings; issue minutes

Assist in developing site logistics and sequencing diagrams using proper software

Assist in monthly owner invoicing, including subcontractor, material, and budget reviews

Lead or assist in project close‑out, preparing checklists, punch list process, and documentation

Gather documents for financial close‑out with owner, subcontractor, and vendor disputes

Take progress photos, save to server, and issue photo reports as needed

Perform other duties as assigned

Quality of Work

Participate in the implementation and use of the DAVIS Quality Management system

Review and prepare submittals to comply with contract documents

Assist in budget/cost control, change management, invoicing, PSR, schedule control, and quality processes per DAVIS standards

Create and manage quality control and deficiency logs using Latista or similar software

Assist in developing thorough scopes of work for each trade to ensure buy‑out completeness

Assist in reviewing and analyzing bids from subcontractors and suppliers for scope accuracy

Coordinate with project team to assure adherence to best practices

Participate in DAVIS-sponsored activities and industry events

Engage in retention and recruiting of current and future DAVIS employees

Provide backup to Project Engineer and Project Coordinator duties when needed

Work with DAVIS Superintendent to assist and/or lead construction process for the duration of the project

Promote collaboration with owners, property managers, design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other contractors to enhance communication

Effectively communicate with the DAVIS team, owners, architects, and subcontractors from pre‑construction through completion

Build relationships during owner meetings, project meetings, internal, and subcontract meetings

Participate in presentations for potential projects and corporate initiatives

Use subcontractor qualification reports to assess performance and guide project teams

Problem Solving

Proactively identify and solve project issues, coordinating research and resources with DAVIS teams and subcontractor community

Write coordinated RFIs offering solutions and field information to the design team

Implement solutions promptly

Organize workflow, workspace, files, and resources efficiently

Maintain project detail while keeping a big‑picture outlook

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE + SPECIAL SKILLS

Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field or equivalent construction experience*

Minimum of two (2) years previous construction experience*

Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction project management, including safety standards*

Demonstrated ability to understand and learn technical systems and processes; show initiative, self‑motivation, and decision‑making*

Exhibit skills for entry‑level management and leadership

Decision‑making, research, and analytical problem‑solving skills*

Time management – independent task, project, and demand prioritization*

Strong verbal and written communication; interact effectively at all levels*

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

Project management and scheduling software experience (Primavera, MS Project, or other)*

Certifications: First Aid, CPR, OSHA 30‑hour

General contracting experience

PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS Reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend; lift or carry up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity for office equipment; high concentration required.

WORKING CONDITIONS May require travel for conferences, sessions, and events. Noise levels moderate in office. Exposure to higher noise levels and hazardous conditions at job sites; safety precautions provided.

Base Salary $88,000.00 - $105,000.00
