Jacobs is seeking a dynamic industry leader for the Marker Office Leader – Transportation role in Des Moines, Iowa. This key, strategic position offers tremendous market growth opportunities and the chance to build and lead a high‑performing Transportation team.
As part of the East‑Central Leadership Team, you will drive portfolio performance, collaborate across operations, sales, and project delivery, and amplify the Jacobs brand within the local marketplace.
Base Pay Range $130,000.00 / yr – $175,000.00 / yr

Key Responsibilities
Known and trusted Transportation industry executive to lead the Jacobs’ Iowa operations
Serve as a principal point of contact with all local Iowa Transportation clients
Responsible for Business Metrics & KPIs, including P&L components within the larger Director of Operations’ targets
Key decision‑maker to position and develop strategic teaming arrangements for Iowa Transportation clients such as Iowa DOT, DART, City of Des Moines and other strategic local units of government
Recruit and hire top talent in the Des Moines area, retain talent, and promote an inclusive and diverse environment
Effectively integrate sales, operations, and project delivery functions
Drive market growth opportunities, working jointly with Transportation and Water Market Growth Directors and Regional Market Solution Leaders
Provide external visibility to promote the Jacobs brand throughout the state of Iowa
Oversee people development and career development for Des Moines‑based staff
Promote Jacobs BeyondZero, quality, and safety programs to create an incident‑ and injury‑free culture
Qualifications
Demonstrated progressive leadership experience in Transportation with a desire to work across other markets (water & buildings)
Iowa Market Knowledge: established relationships with Iowa‑based clients, deep knowledge of the transportation sector, and an understanding of the political landscape driving local public policy; active engagement in government affairs
Business Acumen and Collaborative Leadership: high‑level business/financial acumen; ability to co‑create and collaborate within the existing Des Moines staff, Midwest Transportation sales team, and the broader global Jacobs; creation of trusting relationships inside and outside the leadership team
Key Decision Maker: decisiveness and courage in making tough decisions; skill in navigating and managing conflict resolution
Outcome Driven: establishes KPIs and disseminates results to local staff and other stakeholders; relentless prioritization for growth in the Transportation market in Iowa with results that keep pace with business needs and expectations from senior leadership
Client‑Centric: strong partnerships with other Client Account Managers (CAM) to deliver tailored, cross‑functional, future‑forward solutions that anticipate/address clients’ evolving needs
Builds Talent: personal development of the next generation of leaders through coaching/mentoring/sponsoring/succession planning; emphasis on developing diverse employees as part of the larger inclusion strategy
Digital Mindset and Global Delivery: ability to lead and empower adoption of the Jacobs digital solutions strategy in the book of business; promotion of global delivery centers (GDCs) to meet client commitments, drive growth, and enhance profitability

Ideal Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
Professional Engineer Registration in Iowa
Profit & Loss management experience
Familiarity with the South Dakota Department of Transportation and willingness to help develop a market presence
