The Lead Pastor serves as an Elder and the primary spiritual leader of First Baptist Church (Gray, GA). This role involves overseeing the ministerial staff and day-to-day church operations. The Lead Pastor is responsible for expository preaching, teaching, pastoral counseling, and leadership, guiding the church in fulfilling its God-given mission.
Personal Characteristics
A clear and credible testimony of personal salvation, reflecting spiritual maturity and biblical character (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9).
A man of unquestionable integrity, setting a high moral standard for the congregation.
A heart for ministering to people of all ages.
Education/Experience Requirements
Undergraduate degree required.
Master of Divinity or comparable degree from an accredited conservative, evangelical, or Southern Baptist seminary (or equivalent) preferred.
Alignment with the Baptist Faith and Mission 2000.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a church with at least 100 regular attendees (a combination of education and experience may be considered).
Experience in an Elder-led church preferred.
Proven ability to prepare and preach expository sermons.
Skilled in working with multigenerational congregations.

While not required, preference will be given to those with a music/ worship background. Duties of this position
could include
planning churchwide discipleship opportunities, occasional teaching and preaching, mission and outreach implementation, music and worship leadership, and church administrative responsibilities.
