Deputy Program Manager – HNTB

This position is a key leadership position within the I-24 Choice Lane PMC team.
This $5 billion Public Private Partnership will provide Tennessee with an additional two lanes of interstate in each direction for approximately 23 miles of interstate south of Nashville. The role provides leadership and direction over document control, version control, submittal tracking, correspondence tracking, developer payments/collections, schedule analysis, cost estimates, and technical support on all change orders and progress reports/payments provided to Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The project will create policies and procedures for use on this Choice Lanes project, which will be utilized on all subsequent choice lanes projects in relation to document control, filing taxonomy, work rules related to submittals and correspondence, review and acceptance of schedules and estimates, interaction with TDOT related to developer payments/collections, as well as progress reports and invoices to Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The position will lead a team in accomplishing monthly reports on schedules, estimates, progress payments, submittal tracking, correspondence/issues, work with the Statewide PMC Program Manager to resolve project issues and present options to the client, and establish a working relationship with key staff from both the developer and Tennessee Department of Transportation.
It also works and directs the General Engineering Consultant on tasks that exceed the capacity of the immediate PMC team and provides technical judgement and support to the design, construction and commercial leads, including schedule analysis, cost estimating support, correspondence searches, version control searches, and analysis of backup documents.
Day‑to‑day supervision will be provided for two internal staff plus an augment of a General Engineering Consultant, with direction and oversight as workload requires.
What You’ll Do
Support the Program Manager by effectively managing and delivering PMC services in the area(s) assigned.
Resolve issues of moderate financial impact; seek guidance from the Program Manager for issues of greater financial or business risk to the client.
Identify and bring to the Program Manager potential areas to increase HNTB’s presence and revenue with the client.
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients at the comparable organization level, actively attending and building relationships within local and state industry organizations.
Identify staffing needs for the delivery of services for their area(s), providing direction and oversight to staff, client staff and subcontractors.
Participate in the development of client service action plans and client project reviews.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
12 years relevant experience.
What We Prefer
3 years of a combination of a) proven program management and/or senior PMC role, b) managing or leading a team in successful delivery of PMC projects, c) alternative project delivery experience, d) PE.
