General Description The Civil Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for a variety of civil construction projects. This includes analyzing project plans and specifications, determining material quantities, labor requirements, and equipment needs, and developing detailed cost proposals. The role also involves project planning, including developing project schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Essential Functions
Studies drawings, plans and specifications to get overall picture of work that needs to be done. Utilizes basic math skills including trigonometry to perform calculations. Performs “job walk” to see where the work is located in the field and to assess work environment. Compiles list of types of materials, tools or equipment needed. Compiles list of workers needed to man the job including each classification of worker and number of each classification needed. Utilizes basic knowledge of the different languages and functions of craftsmen, engineers, accounting representatives, safety personnel and attorneys to coordinate project. Gives job review/proposal to appropriate personnel. Plans sequence of work to be done in logical order utilizing personnel and equipment factors. Schedule of work must be discussed with client and agreed upon. Computes overall cost estimates for materials, labor and subcontracted work, often utilizing an estimate book. Performs weekly/biweekly updates on all projects. Maintains constant effective verbal and written communication with all parties involved in each job. Utilizes basic computer knowledge to input information and issue reports. Position Requirements
3+ years of estimating Basic cost accounting knowledge. Strong Excel, PowerPoint user Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office. Five years of experience or degree in construction management/engineering Equal Opportunity Employer
