Program Specialist I, Div. of Medical Education
This role provides comprehensive support for faculty development efforts across all phases of the medical education program under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Faculty Development for Education and the Division of Medical Education.
Responsibilities include close collaboration and communication with other SFESOM staff and faculty to ensure success of faculty development related efforts. The role supports regional campus initiatives related to faculty development, maintains an asynchronous platform for accessible training materials, and may represent faculty needs at the Educational Program Planning Committee (EPPC). The Program Specialist will lead coordination of the Faculty Educator Recognition Program and the Peer Evaluation and Enrichment Program (PEEP), promote feedback and reflective practice among faculty, and provide cross‑training and intermittent coverage for essential coordinator responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Provide ongoing support for faculty development initiatives across all phases of the MD Program, identifying needs and facilitating appropriate resources or training.
Collaborate with staff and faculty leadership across all curriculum phases to assist with scheduling, logistics, and communication for key faculty development components.
Work closely with LIC coordinators, directors, and clinical site leadership to align faculty development expectations with community‑based adjunct faculty.
Contribute to faculty development initiatives related to coaching and mentorship.
Plan and coordinate events for faculty development efforts.
Collaborate on regional campus faculty development initiatives, helping align local and institutional goals.
Maintain and update the asynchronous platform hosting faculty development materials.
Assist with resource development and production as directed.
Oversee all outgoing communication related to faculty development, including event announcements, newsletters, and updates.
Represent faculty development needs at the EPPC, advocating for resources and support.
Maintain comprehensive records of faculty development activities and accomplishments for all core educators.
Lead program coordination for the Faculty Educator Recognition Program, PEEP, and other faculty programs overseen by the Division of Med Ed and the Associate Dean of Faculty Development.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) plus 2 years of directly related work experience, or a master’s degree (or equivalency).
Experience with University platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office suite, Zoom, Drupal, Power BI).
Familiarity with administration in higher education and/or background knowledge of rural or underserved health and/or health care.
Demonstrated high level of project coordination to effectively lead and deliver robust programs and initiatives.
Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to work independently and take initiative to achieve outcomes.
