Role Overview
We are looking for a life safety project manager, responsible for delivering a multitude of projects on time, accurately, and within budget for CertaSite customers. The life safety project manager requires the ability to solve problems, multitask, and collaborate with engineers, technicians, operations leaders, support staff, our customers and other key stakeholders to deliver the most dependable and simplified life safety solution on the planet. This is a fast paced and demanding role with high visibility within the company. This role reports to the general manager.

What You Will Be Doing
Liaise with local jurisdictions from the point of preliminary design through the permitting process and construction completion
Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings in retail, restaurant, office, multifamily residential, and institutional market sectors
Play an active role in project meetings with clients and colleagues
Provide administrative support for installations and retrofits
Supervise and direct the work of other project administrative assistants as needed
Develop and maintain a project schedule and coordinate needs with the project team. Identify time‑sensitive installation needs
Assist with the requisition of supplies and materials to complete projects
Review plans and specifications and participate in project cost reviews
Conduct an orientation for project technicians and provide all necessary project documentation, including scope of work, drawings, applicable specifications, application‑engineered drawings, project contacts, etc.
Track resources and project progress
Document project events that impact the schedule, scope of work, and project efficiency
Coordinate and pursue project‑specific billing; coordinate with accounting team and operations managers
Expedite the return of project‑specific mark‑ups for as‑built development
Complete project‑specific close‑out documentation
Effectively manage and coordinate subcontractors to meet scope, scheduling, and financial requirements
Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures; report unsafe conditions and actions
Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Two‑year degree in Fire Protection Technology, Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Computer Aided Drafting preferred or equivalent education and experience
3‑5 years of technical experience in the commercial fire and life safety industry
Knowledgeable in local and national (NFPA) fire alarm codes and regulations
Knowledge and understanding of industry applications; ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, and electrical, network, and control wiring diagrams
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ideal Qualities
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with a Mechanical, Electrical, or Fire Protection emphasis
Experience managing other project administrative assistants strongly preferred
In possession of or eligible to obtain NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) credentials
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
Experience with Fire Sprinkler Design software
Experience in Fire Alarm System design with good knowledge of fire and life safety codes and NFPA 72, experience with developing fire alarm device layouts and riser diagrams
Self‑starter requiring minimal supervision
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Controlled climate, office environment
Occasional work from home options
Required to sit for long periods of time, 8 or more hours per day
Frequently required to use monitor, keyboard, mouse and phone
